Learn More About MTI
Midwest Teachers Institute was founded to provide teachers with an inexpensive way to earn graduate credits for salary enhancement, state re-certification and professional development.
By allowing you to choose individual classes, you can decide what content will provide the most meaningful experience for you, your classroom, and your district. By keeping our courses at the lowest prices in the country, we allow teachers to improve their teaching all while being budget friendly. We understand teachers, because we are teachers!
What type(s) of courses do you offer?
We offer graduate-level, continuing education courses for K-12 teachers, counselors and administrators for salary schedule/lane advancement, re-certification, state licensure or other professional development needs.
MTI understands that as teachers we learn differently so we developed different types of courses for teachers that are flexible, inexpensive and fit your schedule. ALL of our courses and their formats below will earn you 3 graduate credits upon completion.
Currently, we have courses for educators in these convenient formats;
– Online (instructor led) – Last 5 short weeks and have specific start and end dates. You will use our Learning Management Software (Canvas) to communicate online with an instructor and classmates. Each week specific assignments are due along with classmates and instructor forum posts. You are not required to participate in real-time conversations or activities, so you can be online anytime, but assignments must be completed each week as stipulated on your syllabus.
– Online/ self-paced (no instructor) -You will use our Learning Management Software (Canvas) to post answers to course questions and reply to others in your course . You can choose to complete your work at 2 am or 2 pm, from the comfort of your home, or anywhere else the day takes you. Take up to a whole year to complete and you ARE NOT required to participate in synchronous, real-time conversations or activities, giving you maximum flexibility to go online when it is most convenient for you and YOUR SCHEDULE.
– Onsite- Unique field trip courses called “ Teaching Beyond the Textbook” (TBT) for short. Available in select cities throughout the U.S. This course meets Monday thru Friday (usually summer) where you will travel to different educational sites in and around your city on guided tours allowing educators to see the vast resources available to them.
– E-Adventure course, go on a vacation, weekend getaway or trip, earn 3 graduate credits. At MTI, we understand how busy you are. This is why we developed the E-Adventure course . This course is your opportunity to take what you have learned on your vacation/trip and apply it to your classroom. You earn graduate credit for seeing the world or even a great city in the U.S. and completing a few assignments.
